A widespread theory and a sacred value, particularly within the modern healthcare. Some sound and valuable advice if you don’t mind me saying and advice we should all hear sooner rather than later. It first appeared around the 1500 era and associated with the famous Dutch philosopher, Desiderius Erasmus.
A term that you may have heard your elders say and perhaps heard from grandparents. Rather than waiting for some sort of ‘blip’ to occur or some health condition to happen to the body, why not just stick within the guidelines that we all know quite well. Or do we?
Eat healthy, wash your hands before dealing with food, sleep enough hours each night, basically stay away from all the negative influences that can warrant consequences to your health and body.
There are endless factors, some of which comes to us automatically, whereas some factors has to be integrated within our lives and learned as a healthy habit to stimulate good overall health, check out the content below for some guidance or reminders:)
“You must not rely on the information on our website as an alternative to medical advice from your doctor or other professional healthcare provider“
“If you have any specific questions about any medical matter, you should consult your doctor or other professional healthcare provider“
“If you think you may be suffering from any medical condition, you should seek immediate medical attention“
Why Is Prevention Important?
Dealing through a crisis or having to heal from a symptom can not only be a waste of time and energy, but can be emotionally challenging. Many of us lack the knowledge or simply unaware of the effects our actions may have on ourselves and even others.
“Prevention is about helping people stay healthy, happy and independent for as long as
possible. This means reducing the chances of problems from arising in the first place and,
when they do, supporting people to manage them as effectively as possible. Prevention is
as important at seventy years old as it is at age seven.” – Department of Health & Social Care.
An unhealthy habit is probably one of the worst ways that can impact one’s health. Imagine that as a result of being overworked and busy every week that we simply do not have time to cook and eat fresh or foods made from scratch rarely.
Overtime, we do feel that eating out more than often or devouring those takeaway meals nearly every day is having a negative effect on us both mentally and physically. After all, those convenient foods are of low nutrition with excess salts, unhealthy fats and unnatural ingredients added that can make us feel ‘unpleasant’.

Cooking is so important to practice daily and allows you to avoid eating from packets, processed foods and too many refined foods. The purpose for many to eat home made foods is exactly that, to stay well, eat healthy and remain positive overall:)
What about that unhealthy habit of drinking too much caffeine when we are stressed out? You may find yourself drinking pass the safety limit and drink way more caffeine on a regular basis. In time, too much caffeine can cause high blood pressure, may stimulate headaches as caffeine is naturally a stimulant and should only be drank in low amounts or not at all.
“We know that prevention works. A review of international studies suggests that past
investments in prevention have had a significant long-term social return on investment.
Around £14 of social benefit for every £1 spent across a broad range of areas” – Department of Health and Social Care.
Implement preventative strategies in your life and notice the difference! It is common sense that we handle our health with optimum priority in the first place and not to go overboard.
Any illness, health condition or ‘problem’ obtained as a result of seeing to it too late, letting it drag on or hoping it would just ‘go away’ and dealing with the side effects are not only expensive to deal with but can be mentally and physically draining too.
Of course, we can obtain these ailments through no fault of our own but may have been our ‘destiny’ but many negative health conditions can be prevented, so Let’s only discuss those.
- When obtaining that poor skin inflammation on the hands as a result of excessive hand washing with strong soaps, the waiting period to normalize the skin can take several weeks or months. In the meantime, it can be aggravating and a poor experience to deal with.
“Coming into contact with irritants such as dust, detergents, cleaning agents, airborne sprays or even just frequent hand-washing can cause irritant hand eczema (irritant contact dermatitis of the hands).” – National eczema Society.
- Once we know and are aware of the true causes that caused the negative effects on us in the first place, we can then remove these factors from our life easily and then live a more fulfilling life!
How about not giving yourself some ‘me’ or ‘quiet’ time now and then to know your thoughts and feelings? If we are always busy and on the go, this can be more of a burden on our bodies than a fulfilling one.
When you are ‘busy’ then opportunities can be missed, you aren’t really in the present, you rarely look after yourself or even unable to make time for your comforts and hobbies… nothing to be proud of!
It is imperative that you take a step back and breathe, find yourself, instead of burning out often.
