Make Lipbalm Easy!

I know how hard it can be to find the perfect products for your lips. Most store-bought products contain ingredients like Petroleum jelly which is going to do more harm than good. Petroleum jelly can create the illusion of moisturized and hydrated skin. It will suffocate your skin its water-repellant and not water-soluble meaning it will merely seal the barrier so that the moisture does not leave the skin.

In the following passages, there are simple and easy instructions to create the best three lip care products from all-natural ingredients. Some of the ingredients can be tailored depending on the skin type and condition. All the recipes can be altered to your liking the oil and butter portion along with the container and packaging portion.

Choosing natural and safer options, for your body, whether it’s in food choices, products or perfumes, gentle and pure ingredients and alternatives are always better for your health in the long – run and you just have to see the results to believe it:)

What You Will Need

Disclaimer: none of the tools listed should be used for cooking purposes if possible, please buy
tools that are separate from your own personal kitchen use.

All Natural Plant-based Flavor lip balm

The materials needed for this are displayed above as well as mini funnels, containers for holding the lip balm tube with, a butter of choice(mango butter or Shea butter), Castor oil(coconut oil or jojoba oil), One carrier oil of choice, flavor oil of choice and wax of choice. For this one, we will choose Candillia wax as mentioned it is my favorite.

Step one:

Place skillet on the stove top, add a tiny bit of water one to two inches enough to fill the bottom of the skillet but not too much to where the pouring pot is floating over the water. You want the pouring pot to sit directly in the water. Heat the water on low so that it comes to a slow boil. You want to make sure that you have all the other materials needed handy so that this can make the process easier for you.

Below I will show you a picture example of a double-boiler method for making skincare products. This is for anyone who has never seen or heard of this before.

Double boiler method: Turn your burner to simmer. As the water heats up steam is released the steam stays trapped between the two pots which then heats the butter and oil on the top pot.

Measure out all of the ingredients in separate bowls that will later be combined minus the flavor
oil that will be added after the product is off of the heat. This batch will make about 27-30 lip
balms.

Ingredient for lip balm :
27 grams of wax (Candellia wax is my favorite for this recipe)

37 grams of carrier oil of choice ( Coconut Oil is my favorite)

35 grams of Castor oil
17 grams of butter of choice ( Shea Butter is my favorite)

1 gram of Vitamin E

Combine all of the ingredients to a simmer use a stirring stick to make sure it is all thoroughly
combined together.

20-25 drops of flavor oil that will be added after the combined ingredients are all melted and
taken off of the burner.

Once you have melted the ingredients, while it is still hot and taken off of the burner add flavor
oil drops, pour into lip balm containers while it is still melted, pour quickly but safely the
content is very hot but will harden fast.

If the product happens to harden just reheat until
melted and pour again!

Let the balms harden before cleaning the containers and adding the label. And that’s it you are
done with that easy to do lip balm. It is so simple yet so amazing for the lips!

Mica mineral plant-based lip balm

  1. Hi, this is amazing! I love this! Beautiful website, article, and what a great idea- making your own lip balm! I work in a school and for some reason, as soon as I walk in there, I need lip balm. It must be the air in there or lack of humidity or something. I also imagine this would be fun to make with kids. Is it a kid-friendly project?

Thanks for explaining the health benefits of making your own lip-gloss. I’m sure it’s just packed with nutrients for your skin.
